There really isn't a way to read a book online, even HARRY POTTER, for free.

You're going to have to sign up for most legal options. You may be able to apply for a library card somewhere far away that gives you access to their eBooks.

Other than that you're into the realm of shady websites that distribute eBooks illegally.

I'm proud to say, though, there are many websites with writings that people have made.
