I'm going to be jointly running a school programming course aimed at ages 11–13 in a couple of weeks, and will want to create c.16 accounts beforehand, to save time in the first lesson. Is this likely to cause any problems? We'll have the consent of the parent/guardian, and I'll choose gibberish usernames along the lines of this newly-created one (asaqq00) to avoid leaking any personal information.

Looking forward to doing this class, by the way — I've worked with my own and others' kids on an ad-hoc basis with Scratch quite a bit over the past while, so it'll be great to see what a classful of kids can come up with!

I'm pretty sure you'll just have to make all 16 accounts one after the other, but I'm not sure if any problems will be caused, such as if there's a limit to how many accounts can be created from the same network IP address. Try it out, though, and if you encounter any problems, respond here it should be good, though, because many schools have set up multiple Scratch accounts.

Brief report, as promised: I had no trouble creating the 16 accounts, and testing them myself by logging in straight afterwards. Once or twice the log-in process seemed to freeze but was fine when I re-tried. In the actual class, we experienced this log-in freeze behaviour for two of the accounts, and re-trying didn't help. The affected participants created their own new accounts there and then and we carried on.

Our first class was a bit chaotic, but so far so good I think!

Oh, that's a common glitch. Refresh the page, and then you can log in. Also, this seems only to occur on the front page, so try logging in on another part of the site if the problem persists. so no need to create new accounts: try refreshing the page when you can't log in and also try logging in somewhere else (such as the help page).
