Possible Solutions for the Problem of "ADD EVERYTHING" Studios

Just, please stop. We've already had enough Add Everything studio discussions, and this won't help at all. It'll just give the counter-anti-AE groups all the ammunition they need to hold grudges against the Opposition.

Cheddargirl even said that this was a so-called “attack” on them (rather biased), and she IS a community moderator. Let's all just shut up about this debate and that way it'll make the situation go away.

I won't stop until they stop adding my projects, spamming and devaluing them, then insulting me when I try to complain. They have no right to attack us anyway.

I just want this to be over. I'm with you on that, but nothing will help unless, the ST, including Cheddargirl, can get over their biases. This has destroyed the community. I'm all for it if there is a solution.

However, since no one is taking action, this is where I stand. I'm anti AE because of the repercussions in the community, and the selfish adding of my projects. If the ST finds a way to stop and undo the random adding, I will be happy. One solution would be that if your project is in a studio you can remove it, and you must request to add a project (like studio curators).

I also disagree with you in that this situation will not stop if we don't protest. Human nature is not what it seems. The only way to stop AE's is to fight. AE owners will not stop on their own goodwill, if its possible to say they actually possess it.

What annoys me most is how the Anti-AE are made to look like the “bad-guys” by the ST.

Why are only the actions of the Anti-Anti-AE excused by the ST, while the actions of the Anti-AE are not? Apparently, it's perfectly fine for the Anti-Anti-AE to call us “heartless”, “selfish”, “mean” or even “terrorists”, but there's no excuse for us to make a fake account to remove our own projects from an AE studio. What else are we meant to do? We don't have any other choice, I recently asked every AE studio that my project Blitz was in to remove it from the studio, I even provided the exact row of the studio that it was in. It was in about 20 AEs. So far, only 2 have removed it.

Part of me agrees with you, yet I still think that we shouldn't stop UNTIL something is done about this. How do we know that anything is going to change? So far, nothing has changed in regards to AE. We could have said that removing the “add by tag” feature was a step forward and it would have looked good on the Scratch Team that they are actually noticing this except cheddargirl said that removing the feature had nothing to do with AE, in which case no visible progress has really been made…

What I am saying may be biased, but it is all true (on all my posts) if you find evidence that it is not, feel free to share with me.

I agree with you though. Nothing will be done unless we protest, or the ST acts. If these “people” are mean enough to do what they have done to the community. They definitely wont stop except from divine, yes, divine intervention.

Let's just leave it at this.

I heard that r2dav2 got banned for sabotaging an AE studio. That totally stinks! First, he was wrong to do that, but second, he was one of the most polite and best Scratchers I knew of! Something must be done to solve the issue, but this topic will probably only stir it up more.

Thanks for the ride, Scratch Team and community! Unfortunately, the time has come for me to move on from Scratch, so I'll no longer be using the forums. Thanks again, and farewell!

What I understand is that there are some disrespectful things done by some people the Anti-AE side, such as sabotaging studios which should be stopped, but that does not mean that people can put the whole campaign into one group. Stereotyping is not respectful, and grouping people with different intentions that do different things in a whole group and saying that all of them did the disrespectful things when only few did is also not respectful. But, does being ST mean that Scratch members can decide who they will vote for in the 2016 election? No. So just because some people disagree with what the ST agrees with does not mean that the ST has to agree with them. Also, many AE curators are beginning to equate asking to remove one single project with “YOU ArE TRYING TO DISTrOY DIS STUDIO1$rof3u9 U aWoRlD alt AccOunt!! U mean AND hEaRtLess!!!”

P.S. I do not agree with r2dav2's destroying of AE studios. That is really not nice. (So far here is the number of Tcodina style “save r2dav2” projects I have seen: 0)

The reason why there is no peace and why there won't be for a while is because we brought this up. We are the reason why this whole “attack” started.

Scratch has been around for over 6 years. These galleries existed since it's beginning, as Lightnin himself told. That being said, it was barely a problem back then, yet people all of a sudden have seemed to have lost it for some unknown reason.
That is EXACTLY my reason as to why not protest. If we leave it all to die out and never give them the attention THEY WANT, then they'd get bored because they get no attention no matter how hard they try.

I too hate the fact they treat even the best projects like some random garbage made in 5 seconds, yet having reactions and people coming to their page, no matter whether or not they become infamous or hated, they WANT the attention we are giving them. That's precisely why they keep on doing it.

In mid-July, a few of my projects were added to an AE studio. In protest to this, I requested to have my projects removed, only to be persistently declined and insulted. I have kept a log of this on my desktop, because soon after the comment chain was deleted. To prevent name-and-shaming, I'm using “AE curator” instead of the real username.

Me: Please remove my projects from this studio.
AE curator: no
Me: Why not?
AE curator: cuz we ned it
Me: Why do you need it?
AE curator: it helps new scrachers
Me: How does it help new Scratchers? It's not even for them.
AE curator: well it helps them with scrips
Me: Then why are there projects with little to no scripting in them? If you want to help new Scratchers, you could make a studio for helping them, not adding random projects.
AE curator: we want to get a million projetcs AND help new scratcehrs. if u keep fighting me i will report u
Me: -_- I just wanted my projects removed.
AE curator: no, ur project stays in this studio, it dose no harm to any1 and is fun to have alot of projects
AE curator 2: yeah, {AE curator} is right! we are doing nothing wrong with having lots of projects.
Me: Look, you're making it too hard to remove a few projects from the thousands you already have. I even asked nicely for you to remove them and you decline. If you would please remove my projects it would prove your respect. Otherwise, I will have to contact the ST to remove it.
AE curator: get out of this studio. ur being mean and i have a right to keep ur projecs.
Me: Well I have a right to say what studios my projects get put into, and I say that my projects do not belong in this one.
AE curator: well i dont care. leave this studio alone, meany

Probably best not to keep feeding them the attention they desire. We all always want to say one thing back to the other, each of us getting pride with a response (well, the owner in this case). If I were you I would have just reported it when he called you “meany”.

I'm all for peace. But there is none. If we can't find peace, this is where I stand. And I hope peace isn't just “let's stop arguing”. Yes, that may be the problem before, but now, people can EDIT the galleries/studios, right down to the NAME. But the not so big problem is that they problably won't stop, and also, someone will likely complain if they don't know about the fact they want the attention. But in another forum post, I said this:

stickdude123 wrote:

To AE curators:
You guys aren't really making a studio to be honest, think it like this: You wouldn't want to share a bag of chips with a ton of flavors in them, would you? Yeah sure, people might like the idea at first BUT: most would grab a chip, eat it, and didn't want that flavor! Same goes with Studios, a studio needs a theme, in which has a flavor, people prefer the one flavor because that's what they are looking for! Not the nasty mayonnaise flavor! That's the job of studios, to distinguish project from one another, I wouldn't want to grab into a cheese flavored chips bag and accidentally eat a, oh say, super spicy? That goes for studios, studios distinguish between either genres, something like “Projects I like” are fine, you make your own unique flavor of Scratch potato chips Industries! BUT: Someone makes an add everything studio, NO ONE would be able to find what they are looking for! So why don't you throw us a bone, try to join our side and make the spam studios come to an end? (There are free cookies!)

To victims of AE studios:
So, your project got added to an AE studio, did it? Well, it's pretty simple to get it off. You can just ask nicely, it's a pretty simple idea but it might not always work. They might just say no and leave it there. So what do you do? To be honest, I am not sure, but there has to be some way to get it off…

To Scratch Team:
Maybe if you guys added a way to have project creators be able to remove studios from their projects, it would help! Though it might make the creator of the AE studio angry and add it again, the project creator can just ask nicely not to add it back to the studio, if the problem persists, there would be a checkbox that would keep it from being added to the AE studio!

To Studios Raiders:
So, you are problably thinking that your doing a good deed messing with studios, right? WRONG. If your one of those people that try to gain access to innocent studios for the sake of transforming them into AE studios, that's BAD. You can get in trouble for that, in REAL trouble. That goes for the other way around, just because it's an AE studio, doesn't mean you can transform it into an anti AE studio! I had a ime when I tried adding my anti AE project, but soon it got turned into an AE studio, and a curator just said “NO.”. Which really is bad, and especially confusing for newer scratchers! So please, enough with this, website isn't a place for “claiming” territory (AK studios), it's for fun!

For everyone else:
If you have no idea what's going on, the AE studios are basically spam, not really adding every single project. But if you see one, report it, and move on. And Scratch on!

Well that stinks! It seems to me that they were being pretty disrespectful. However, that's predictable; after all, you were trying to hinder their progress at making a big collection of random projects. Maybe not, but that's the way they see it. You were decent, but maybe you could have been nicer. Two wrongs don't make a right, so I can't side with the AE curators. However, I can see why they think they are right, and I understand that they don't like the opposition. That forces me to see a little from their perspective.

If the studio stayed up, then it just makes deleting the comment thread pointless. If people are going to call names over a decently polite request, they shouldn't be using a studio that causes this.

Honestly, I think the reason that this is a bad thing is because people are taking it too far.

AE curator: get out of this studio. ur being mean and i have a right to keep ur projecs.
Me: Well I have a right to say what studios my projects get put into, and I say that my projects do not belong in this one.
AE curator: well i dont care. leave this studio alone, meany
Me: This is unbelievable. All I wanted was to have my projects removed, only to be told “no” and called “meany”. I hope you don't welcome everyone like this. Goodbye.
AE curator: bye, meany

The next day, this comment thread was deleted.

I'll just leave this here…

EDIT: The file was hidden somewhere in a folder and I must've simply forgot about it. Sorry if I couldn't post it sooner.

AE CREATOR: NO
Me: Why not:
AE CREATOR: because.
Me: Please!!!!
AE CREATOR: NO
Later, the comment chain got removed, and the studio was gone.

Possible Solutions for the Problem of "ADD EVERYTHING" Studios

These seem like good ideas, but I think discouraging is the best option. If the owners want to keep their studios, that is on them.

And it will be the easiest, because we aren't forcing them to delete their studios.

Here is the problem:
Even if we do get rid of (the owner deletes them) all AE studios, they will still show up in the studio pane. when you click them, they just show up as a 404 error. The ST needs to do like a refresh of a studio panes for each project for them to disappear.

My specs: Windows 8.1.2 - 3 GB RAM - Intel Core2 Quad - IE11

This is what we are trying to avoid. We want to eliminate them peacefully, or come up with a solution to satisfy both sides.
