I love brackets, but i'm considering making a script to always have it launch in the background, it really has a pathetic startup time for a text editor >_<

If you barely ever code, then Notepad should be fine. However, having syntax highlighting and indentation is always nice to have.

Very very very { <->} .. very very nice. They help you to avoid wrong variable names, typos, confusion, and much more.

I made a stupid mistake in my dead simple Scratch extension because I didn't use syntax highlighting. </offtopic>

yeah, that HDD is a huge bottleneck.
windows 8/10 doesn't help matters much, I often spy the badly coded anti-malware service using copious amounts of disk usage when i'm trying to do something.

Atom's a great editor, but the backend's enough to make one stay away from it.

1) Vim's ok, but I hate how you have to enter command mode in order to navigate the file. I tried it and found myself pressing i and escape several times a minute - not my idea of fun. Also I had a glitch where I couldn't get to the last character of the file - probably a cygwin thing.
2) ikr. It seems like Microsoft's assuming everyone has a SSD nowadays

Atom works fine for me, other than rather long loading times.

This is my first official program outside of Scratch :OOOOOOOOOOO it's real language!!! Lua!

I prefer to use xcode because it has useful features like closing quotes and parentheses, but it doesn't have Lua syntax highlighting. Monodevelop does! (MD is supposed to have other features but atm i couldn't care less lol)

I don't see a need for Sublime unless I plan on doing some mega-serious half-life-level programming.

At least when you said ATM (at the moment), you didn't say ATM machine (automated teller machine machine).
