Just like on G+ you can upload your own art (like the channel art on youtube) that goes above your profile page, but you also have like 15 swag photography things of like, curling colored paper or lens flare to choose from.

why is everyone so concerned about uploading inappropriate profile art when you can already do that with your profile icon, studio thumbnails, and now projects…

I support having a preset of backgrounds to choose from, and just a little support for uploading custom backgrounds.
