after trying countless times to get NFS 3: HP to run, and getting no further than the title, I looked online for a patch. after getting it and successfully installing it, I found I couldn't progress further than the main menu; selecting a race crashes the game.
(TL;DR NFS3 not working due to over-powerful computer.)
however, I have managed to find the OST online. needless to say, I now have pure nostalgia flowing through my bloodstream.*** Rom DI Prisco, you're legendary!
also, turns out there's a guy who's remixed the entire NFS3 OST. just type in your favourite song, followed by “Mellow Sonic remix”. should be easy to find.

(*my main problem with modern NFS games is their mix-up with the previous titles. while the vehicles are akin to the classic NFS era, which was awesome, the OST is more akin to the NFSU-NFSC era, which, though cool, doesn't really suit the vehicle choices. as for the gameplay…. however, NFS 2015 appears to be more in line with the NFSU-NFSC games, which is pretty cool. here's hoping it's not a train wreck like the last few games.)

(**ok, here's my problem with Most Wanted 2012: EA goes to the point of giving DLC out for the classic cars. Lamborghini Diablo from NFS3, Eddie's Skyline from Underground, all the way to MW2005's BMW M3 GTR. yet, EA gives them all glossy textures. with some cars, like the diablo, this looks fine, but when your HD “upgrade” of a Skyline looks worse than in the original game, you've really messed up.)
