Back on topic, why exactly are you making this? Minecraft already IS a Minecraft game made in Java. Will this be a mod? Or a spin off?

Back on topic, why exactly are you making this? Minecraft already IS a Minecraft game made in Java. Will this be a mod? Or a spin off?
No, I went to download minecraft, and saw it wasn't free, so I want to make a free version. All from scratch. Not in Scratch, but from scratch.

Minetest might be a lot like what you are thinking of.
I made my profile picture in 2011 when I was 12 and it is by far my greatest artistic achievement.

for some reason you just inspired me to make my own even more. :O Besides, I don't know what kind of people (programmers, graphics, etc) minetest needs.
