Better Bad Word Detector!
Intro
Almost every time I write a comment, I find it saying that the bad word detector is picking up something inappropriate in the comment. Then it tells me to fix it, or I can't post anything. Well, I can't fix something there's nothing wrong with, so I have to sit there for like 10 minutes, rewriting and rewriting the comment until FINALLY I change the word that the bad word detector THINKS was a bad word. I just recently tried to post this comment, and this is what put me over the edge to writing this:
Not really, tbh. We're just waiting for the rest of the art to come in - My friend @jk102 is on vacation in Spain, and he's using the offline editor to finish it up. When he gets back, /most of it/ will be ready. But we have no way of knowing what exactly he's doing over there, so we're all just kinda chilling out until he gets back.
Someone PLEASE tell me whats wrong with this? Because every time I rewrite it, it still says something is wrong!
Comments shouldn't take 10-15 minutes to write. That's why I'm suggesting the ST makes a better Bad Word Detector system.
Suggestions
- Maybe a highlighter that highlights EXACTLY what the detector thinks is wrong? This way, Scratchers can easily fix their mistakes.
- Delete it from the comment. If a bad word is picked up, let the user know still, and if they keep trying to post it, just have it delete whatever the detector is picking up.
- Change it. I've been on other websites that have a bad word detector - instead of letting the person know what's wrong, have it change to be something else, without their consent. (I. E. You're an ***! CHANGES TO You're a banana!"
Conclusion
Even if these none of these changes are made, I still believe that something should be done about the current Bad Word Detector to allow it to be more efficient. Yes, I am aware that doing this might be difficult for the Scratch Team, but I have faith that it can be done. If you have a suggestion, just post it, and I'll probably add it to the list up here. Thank you! ~Aboot4

Hm. I copied and pasted it on my profile, and it said the same thing.
Support for now, although I'll check and see what's wrong.

You probably broke it up in between where it thought the bad was located. I broke it up into four pieces on my profile, and it gave it the okay.

1 and 2, I would support.
For 3, I'm not sure about that one… No support.

This is one of those suggestions where there's no reason to not support. I mean, no one wants a worse bad word detector, right? …Right?

I figured out what was triggering it. It was “come in - My ”. You can remove the - and it still doesn't work, but if you get rid of any of the words, it works. Weird

Yeah, that's what it was, I figured it out earlier. Thanks! And yeah, it really needs to be improved. I figured out what was triggering it. It was “come in - My ”. You can remove the - and it still doesn't work, but if you get rid of any of the words, it works. Weird
