I agree that there's been a good amount of necroposts here, but it looks like people still have questions (relevant to this topic) that haven't been answered yet.

To become a curator, a manageer has to invite you to the studio. You will then get a message saying “X invited you to curate the studio —-. Visit the curator tab to accept the invitation.” If you accept the invitation, you will become a curator. Hopefully this helps.

A studio is like a folder where you can collect and categorize projects.
The person who created the studio can add/remove any project and delete the studio.
The creator can give other users the right to add/remove any project; these users are studio managers.
The creator or any manager can give other users the right to add any project/remove a project they added; these users are studio curators.

If you do a good job at collecting/organizing projects in your studio, it will have a lot of followers.
A follower of a studio gets notifications each time a new project is added to the studio.

EDIT: Additionally, the creator may allow everyone to add projects even if they're not a curator/manager.
If you allow everyone to add things, they can add any project, but only remove projects that they made (unless they're a curator or manager).
The creator and all managers may also change the studio icon/description, but the curators can't.

Also, here is how a person can be a manager of a studio they do not own: First, they have to become a curator, and then a manager can promote them.
