Bill Gates is dead. Are you saying that if you had a dollar for every time a Scratcher did that, you would be dead? A better comparison would be to the president, who gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars just for being prez, not to mention hundreds of thousands of dollars given to him for groceries for his family, as well as the budget he is given to deal with the countries problems.(there's some other stuff the prez gets paid a lot for, but i'm lazy and i don't feel like looking it up)Seriously, I see this happening on Scratch a lot though. For example:ahem* don't forget who discovered the exploit to do so firstIdk who you're talking about.
*cough*
*cough*
*ahem*If I had a dollar for every time a Scratcher did that, I would be Bill Gates!
- User A shares a project with song X by artist Y; gives credit to Y for X
- User B sees user A's project, backpacks the sound (which is most likely mislabeled - songs names should really always be in the format “Artist - Title” as in “Darude - Sandstorm” :P )
- Anyways, then User B goes and makes their own project using song X, however, because they did not read the terms and conditions notes and credits (and also because song X was most likely mislabeled as above) they give credit to User A for the song, not person Y
- More people get confused, some credit User A, some User B, and some even credit others who credited User A or User B, and so on… Not a single person really credits Y for the song (other than User A).

The ST doesn't approve of moving thumbnails for projects.
In late 2014, a hack was revealed which allowed users to set animated thumbnails. This then went popular and encouraged many users to try this hack by themselves. A user has even wrote a program that sets animated thumbnails. However, many users protested the hack as it would be flashy and annoying to users. The Scratch Team has declared that all projects with animated thumbnails would be marked NFE to avoid lag in Front Page. That means that it will not have an opportunity to be front paged, and if by chance it does, a Scratch Team member will remove it. They will rarely appear in the search results. If you wish to have an animated thumbnail on a project, please keep in mind that it cannot be front paged nor likely found through search results, and do not animate it if you wish it to be front paged someday or found using Scratch's search bar.- Scratch Wiki.

Sorry, no support. Animated thumbnails can be annoying, and not really the point of thumbnails.

I don't mind GIFs. They aren't as boring as JPEGsNo, I'm tired of all the GIFs on this site.I disagree. However I don't support this either as per some points above
I never get tired of my awesome gifs. Maybe you should

People have already shared their opinions, and it's basically resolved… The program has been shared that gives the user the ability to do this suggestion, so like I said, it's resolved.Let's just see what the ST thinks…

I'm still interested in opinions on this - and it hasn't been implemented (the exploit is not considered an implementation) so let's leave it openPeople have already shared their opinions, and it's basically resolved… The program has been shared that gives the user the ability to do this suggestion, so like I said, it's resolved.Let's just see what the ST thinks…

I'm a bit torn on this idea. I really love the idea of customizing thumbnails beyond a static image, but I feel it would be so overused/abused that people would want them removed. If we look at studios, a vast majority of them use GIFs, some are interesting, some are impressive, some are boring, some are flat out annoying. sometimes it requires extensive page loading because there is no size limit to GIFs for thumbnails (I want that to change ASAP), which isn't good for users with low bandwidth.
tl;dr i want it but i don't want users to upload random GIFs of stuff like fnaf or frozen

No support for animated project thumbnails.
No support for animated studio thumbnails.
The projects should be where the motion is, in code.
Support for account icon animation, as a compromise, for personal expression, and since our avatars generally do not represent a project or collection of projects.
And maybe a limit should be added to animations, similar to Zro716's suggestion above.

Semi-support for the suggestion, I would like animated thumbnails but it would probably be quite annoying if, say, the whole front page had them.

I'd rather have it that you can choose where in the project the thumbnail is (or if it's just random), because seeing the last frame of it isn't always helpful. Like it could just be a blank screen saying “THE END”, which doesn't give you much information about the project itself.
Nevermind, you can already do that…
I think just a picture's enough.

No, I'm tired of all the GIFs on this site.Me too. Plus, they cause lag. = No support.
That's not true - GIF is a common compressed filetype for images - and it is very common to see a static GIF file. They're often used for animating because the GIF filetype is one of the common filetypes that support animation.I have seen a dandy amount of gifs that aren't moving, I always wondered why they used them instead of JPEGs. You have answered my question, thanks!
Also, I am aware that I wrote above that I don't mind gifs. Well I do now. The amount of them seems to have grown since when I joined (last month). Anyone else notice this?
