Anyone know why Firefox lags?
Before you say anything, yes I know this is an (sorta) off-topic question, but I just have one very important question to ask. I'll close the topic once this problem is solved. However, if this does stir up a good discussion about Firefox lag, I may keep it open.
Whenever I spend about 4 hours or so on Firefox 22.0, the browser suddenly gets extremely laggy, even on the least memory-consuming page loads. Before any of this happens, Firefox can handle several active tabs open with little to no lag at all. Suddenly, the mouse stutters across the page instead of smooth movement and even the loading circle in the corner stops periodically. I've checked my settings, and there should be no history saved, no pages cached, and no third-party cookies set. I checked the troubleshooting information and couldn't find anything out of order…
So next I checked the Task Manager, and this is what it showed:
So, can any computer tech-genie tell me what's the matter with Firefox? Could it be malware (which is highly unlikely, since I've reset Firefox) slowing down my browser, or is it some cache bug that causes overbuild-up of old browsing data?

Processes:Basically any major action causes the CPU to buff up its performance, causing abnormal lag for a while. When I quit out of Firefox, the lag ceases and performance returns to normal.
firefox.exe ; 30-60 CPU ; 110,000+ K Mem Usage
Performance:
During idle: 2-10% CPU Usage ; 646 MB Page File Usage
During page load: 90-100% CPU Usage ; 700+ MB Page File Usage
Physical Memory: 550000+ K out of 10387000 K used
Commit Charge: 700000+ K out of 2499176 K used
Kernel Memory: 53000+ K out of 107904 K paged
So, can any computer tech-genie tell me what's the matter with Firefox? Could it be malware (which is highly unlikely, since I've reset Firefox) slowing down my browser, or is it some cache bug that causes overbuild-up of old browsing data?

Ahem, but chrome has some very serious lag, and to be honest I never experience My friend, I only have one thing to say here.any lag whatsoever on IE.
As for Firefox, I'm not exactly sure, but I know that some browsers do things differently. For example, Internet Explorer saves the amount of messages you have in your cache, so until you clear it, the same number keeps appearing, while Safari does not.

um I don't know but what I do know is that chrome is pretty much perfect already so you shouldn't have any reason to be worried about problems with it

Ahem, but Chrome is owned by Google, which is a member of PRISM, which is subtly scrutinizing on your browsing habits (we've talked about this before). All I wanted was someone to answer my question, not start a biased browser war.

1. Upgrade to firefox 23 which includes some performance fixes.
2. Saying chrome is the perfect browser is wrong. It's far from perfect and I experience less lag in general, from Firefox. Maybe chrome is faster on your computer, but that doesn't make it perfect.

Weird, I'm already using Firefox 23.0.1 and I'm still getting the lag issue. 1. Upgrade to firefox 23 which includes some performance fixes.
Bumping because the issue isn't solved.

I don't want browser recommendations, I want answers for the sudden lag from Firefox.

Not if it's a hardware problem, but that isn't very likely the issue in this case. Not always though.

Okay, according to some unprofessional research, often resetting Firefox fixes many problems, sometimes lag. Also, some guy on some forum said that it has many “Adobe/Java” script errors, but you can't trust everyone's word.

Sure, if you would rather murder your RAM instead. 15~ tabs uses up nearly 2 GB RAM, which is all I got. My friend, I only have one thing to say here.

Using Firefox atm, and I don't have your issues, ProdigyZeta; but definitely update it if you haven't.
PRISM, which is subtly scrutinizing on your browsing habits (we've talked about this before). Firefox is not.Try Ahem, but Chrome is owned by Google, which is a member of Chromium? It's open-source, you'd figure some paranoid programmers would be aware of privacy breaches if they existed!
