Lots of work by Scratch Team programmers this week, but mostly getting ready for future features, such as the offline editor, cloud lists, etc. Also work on solving the slowdown on graphics effects due to the Flash player update .

One handy new shortcut–the address: http://scratch.mit.edu/create makes a new project.

Also, for those new to Scratch, the online “Step-by-Step Intro” is now easier to navigate for all size screens.

Sorry, not yet. More work still needs to be done before the fix is complete.

Are the cloud variables being fixed

The problem seems to only be manifest on complicated costumes, as in it has lots of Vector shapes and Bitmap graphics, especially gradients.

Well, they said that it is coming out next week.

In case anyone's wondering, I found an unannounced feature in the editor: Under the buttons you press to make a new backdrop, there are the words “Video on” and a checkbox. You can activate video just like that!

EDIT: Oh, it only shows up after you use a video block. I guess it's for deactivating video, then.

Hey, I know this isn't related to this topic, but I have to admit, I think griffpatch should become a member of the scratch team. You should check him out. He has been a Java programmer for 12 (maybe 14, I'm not sure XD) years!
