When Windows first came out and other OS's, the graphics were plain and simple. Windows XP had a black start up screen with the logo, and a plain blue window, but then things changed for all technology… the graphics improved, and Windows 7 has an animation at the start up screen, and it has transparent windows, and textured graphics. However, with Windows 8, IOS 7, and more, it seems like that now they're trying to make graphics all plain again, you know what I mean? So what do you prefer: simple or textured, complex graphics interfaces?

I love simplistic yet advanced graphics. I really like the look of iOS 7.

I like Ubuntu.

Well Microsoft had the flat design back in the first version of Windows. Microsoft actually stole the GUI code from Apple. Then Apple created the “Aqua” interface where the design was more colourful and gradient and the buttons, scrollbars and other controls looked more like some kind of liquid or gel. Then Microsoft created Windows XP with the “Luna” theme, which had the default blue colour which could be changed to either silver or olive green. Windows Vista and 7 both had the Windows Aero or “glass” effect. The Xbox and Windows Phone both had the flat “Metro” design which is simpler and easier to use on touch screens. Then Windows 8 also came with the Metro interface. Apple followed the flat design and made it's latest mobile operating system, iOS 7 with a completely new and fresh design.

Conclusion: It seems that when one company changes their product design, the other companies will follow.
I think Google has always had a more flat design though.

Its all thanks to minimalism.

I think I like the Windows 8 interface most, but it takes more getting used to than Windows XP.

My dad is so used to XP that he's not too sure how to save and find files on Windows 7.

Really? I know XP and 7 really well, Vista well, and 8 learning. It's not that much different saving files… lots of businesses actually still use XP, like seriously, large businesses. Whenever I'm at a place I always check behind the desk to see what OS they use (don't ask why).
