Well, if your IP is changing, your server is going to suddenly become a lot harder to work with once your IP becomes ipv6 - it's a problem my friend had with his server and we still haven't been able to fix it.

Sounds cool, I don't think I'll play because I don't play much anymore.

The IP change only happens when I restart either the modem, my Raspberry Pi, or maybe my PC.

Um… are you using a hosting company? Or is it just a computer-based thing. Because without a hosting company, your server will be inaccessible beyond 5-10km of where you host it.

And I'm in Australia right now so… I can't even hope to connect.

Not exactly. Since my server doesn't receive many visitors, you need to schedule a time slot you will be playing on it so I know to leave my PC on for that duration. Remember, your time slot must be between 9am-8pm Pacific Standard Time (US). Unfortunately, since you are in Australia, that would be from 4pm-3am.

Why don't you use a host to run your server? I use Shockbyte, and pay $5 USD a month for the Sand plan.
The cheapest plan (Dirt) is only $2.50, and is enough to host a light Bukkit/Spigot server (I had over 30 plugins excluding Multiverse and I had ~400MB RAM free when the server was idle.

No I don't make projects anymore. I left some time ago.
I only check the forums every now and then, but other than that consider me retired.

That sounds like a great deal, but that's 20% of my allowance, and I haven't gotten any players or requests to play on it over the course of almost a month (even after telling my friends about it on the last day of school). The only person who actually tried got the “Connection timed out” message, even though I saw their character standing there. So I don't think it would be worth it unless my friends will actually play on it.

If I do decide to do that, I hope that they allow you to upload a custom world you want to use (I have a small trail system I want to keep).

Shockbyte gives you pretty much full control over the server with FTP, worlds included.
This is an Dynmap of my server currently being hosted on Shockbyte.

Who would that person be, out of interest? Just a schoolmate I suppose (or was it me?).

Ok that sounded creepy. Anyways, moving on to my statement-
I am in GMT +3 time ATM, so I can only play at 7-8pm PST on your side (which is 6-7am on my side) without spending the night playing Minecraft which I refuse to do. My sleep is more important than a game. But once I reach Australia which will be in less than a week, I will be able to play from 4-6pm on my side which would be within the boundaries of your stated time.

Actually I could play for pretty much my whole day with the times you stated. But that my recommended time.
