Sorry to bump this far too lonely thread, but I was thinking about how I could fit Punch-Out!! characters into classes from Team Fortress 2. Here are my thoughts (sorry, I failed a bit with fitting them all with their races. There are no Australian or Scottish boxers in the series.):

Scout: Little Mac. Sure, he'd lose his talkative personality, but just be thankful I'm using the silent Wii one and not the whiny one from the NES game that literally only says “I'm tired, Doc!”, “He's hurting me, Doc!” and “I can't win.” in-between rounds.
Demoman: Bob Charlie. Okay, so I unfortunately couldn't find any Scottish boxers, so I tried matching the Demoman with some opponents of the same skin colo(u)r. I thought of Doc Louis or Mr. Sandman, but they weren't interesting enough. So I decided to go with a forgotten character from the SNES game. This spot could also go to Aran Ryan as he is probably the closest thing to a Scottish boxer that the series can get. He also acts a bit like the Demoman in how destructive he is.
Medic: Von Kaiser. Yeah, you predicted this one.
Spy: Glass Joe. Again, tried to match the races and it fits for the most part, though thinking about Glass Joe smoking is a strange thought.
Sniper: Referee. That chin though. Also, I think he'd have pretty keen eyesight.
Pyro: King Hippo. Mainly because nobody can understand what he's saying and also for his mass destruction, much like the real Pyro. This spot could also go to Aran Ryan for the same reasons as King Hippo.
Heavy: Soda Popinski. Buff Russian dudes who can crush you in an instant seem to be a favo(u)rite amongst our community.
Soldier: Bald Bull. I have no idea why, this just came to mind.
Engineer: Super Macho Man. I was desperate with both this one and Soldier since the American competitors are a bit too diverse for either of these categories. Super Macho Man was probably the closest in my mind only for the reason that he speaks surf lingo much in the same way Texan slang is often used. And, y'know, the Engineer is a Texan.

Any ideas on which Punch-Out!! characters you'd like to see in a different game? Post below! No, seriously. Post below. PLEASE. I'VE BEEN TALKING TO MYSELF ON THIS THREAD FOR FAR TOO LONG.

Iwata just passed away and he's been credited to the Wii game…okay, this is just a lazy excuse to bump this lonely thread. Still, it is a shame that Iwata died.

Hello, I don't play Punch-out, but a few years ago I really wanted the game for the Wii. But I never got it. ( I still have my hopes) And have you noticed that all games in this series are named similarly? The only names I could find for the games in this series are Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out. And for your post above, Glass Joe and Don Flamenco.( I did enough research to know that this was a good choice…not really)

There's good reasoning for the similar names. The first two Punch-Out!! games were in the arcades and were known as Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! The NES game was a (very) loose port of both versions and simply retained the Punch-Out!! name. When the SNES sequel came out, it was called Super Punch-Out!! because 1. it was on the SNES and it would make sense, 2. that's what the sequel to the arcade game was called and 3. it was a loose port of Super Punch-Out!! The Wii game is called Punch-Out!! because it's the simpler title, I suppose. It's all a little tricky to understand.

I have played all of the punch out games except super punch out in the arcades. yes I played the punch out arcade game. I love the nes one, and the wiimake. also, RELEASE THE BOGUS!!!
