I got a message "username replied to your comment on project". I clicked on project. The project loads but not the comments. I waited a long time but they don't load. I think that was because the replay to my comment was deleted by the project editor.

That's because the domain is trying to open projects/number#comments. If you just open the project NOT from your messages, the comments load. And yep, it's because it was deleted.
