Fractals

Discuss your thoughts on fractals, such as the Mandelbrot set, Julia set, Dragon curve, Mandelbulb, Burning Ship, Nova fractal, and other fractals that boggle the mind with endless detail.

You can answer these questions if you'd like:
-What's your favorite 2D/3D fractal? Least favorite?
-Have you ever rendered one yourself?
-What's your favorite YouTube video that provides a zoom-in into a fractal's inner detail?
-Do you feel excited, humbled, intimidated, intrigued, etc. by the fractals?
-Would you like to discover more varieties of fractals if you could?

My favorite fractal is the lesser known Cubic Mandelbrot (also called the Rudy set), a 2D fractal of higher power and can be altered in infinite ways. I have a project to render them here. And here is the blog containing several samples of the Rudy set. Every time I see a new fractal, I get a wave of sensory overload, since there is so much detail to take in and it very much excites me like a roller coaster ride. There is no doubt in my mind that I would love to discover more fractals.

Here's an image of a Mandelbulb I rendered in Scratch: (click it to go to the project)

I love the classic–the Mandelbrot set. Kind of cliche, I know, but it's very awesome. I fell in love with it after seeing a zoom-in of it.
After that, I began reading up on Julia sets and attractors and all that interesting stuff. It's amazing how such complexity can come out of such a simple idea.
Nice to find someone else who loves fractals (and has a favorite one to boot!)

Why?

The Sierpinski triangle? That one's pretty cool.
Happy fractaling!

I can't fractal…. I'm on my iPad, and my computes broke

I've heard of it, but never used it yet. I was always lingering around fractalforums.com trying to find the downloadable software for rendering mandlebulbs.
