If the AI was made purely objective it would be pretty simple. But it wouldn't look very good (jerky movement) and would probably have to be omnipotent, kinda unfair. You could randomize it a bit, add some silly behaviors to mimic other players, and make it a bad judge of sizes, and it might feel pretty nice.Yeah…gods like griffpatch.Anyone want to try to make a multiplayer version on scratch?Making multiplayer would be a nightmare. I think there are maybe 5 people on this site max that could actually do it.
All the current ones are either single player or have a maximum of 2-3 players.
I think making a realistic AI would be fun, though. Like, turn around if getting too close to a bigger blob, ignoring a similar sized blob, chasing a smaller blob…?

Mine can detect other blobs from all the way across the map, but everyone's slower than you so it doesn't matter. Well I tried and failed to make a scrolling version that has AI blobs that actually home in on the skittles, and each other.
Mostly because I got bored with all the lists and math. Heh.
And about omnipotent AI, it doesn't matter because who would bother to go walking across half the map to find players when there are plenty of other AIs or the little dots/skittles near to pick up? Effectively, the AI doesn't care unless it gets really big.

This was just…amazing.
Only four people playing on one of the servers.
I was going to try and wait it out to see if I could get to number one, but they finally found me and I got eaten by that unnamed cell.

I managed to get on the leaderboard for a brief amount of time yesterday before I got eaten. When I play, the Oceania servers always seem to have ~4500 players. I sometimes become a big cell, only to find 500 others that are larger than me.

I like to play by the name of SUUS NUUN. I once got to 7th on the leaderboard, but then I messed up. Love the game though, it's like the spore cell stage but better.

I just got to #1 at about 30 mass on experimental.
I was going to take a screenshot but by the time it loaded I was off the leaderboard.

Also, I just wanted to say that I found something ironic. There was this cell named Eat This ——-> which pointed exactly to another cell saying Don't Eat Me! I wish it said <——- Eat This though.

Hi all, while I agree that this is a rather fun game, I'm afraid the lack of restriction on names means that some rather nasty ones end up being used. I don't see any problem with people that already know about the game or are willing to find it themselves discussing it, but I've gone through and removed a couple links that had click-throughs to the game and tweaked the title so the address of the site isn't so obvious. Thanks for being careful about it in the first place.

The first time I played this I thought it was going to be one of those way overrated games and bored myself in 5 minutes.
But I've grown around it. (I also thought up some pretty snarky nicknames hehe)
Also, am I the only person here who thinks the black theme is better?
