I totally understand where you're coming from, but it kind of delivers a wrong message. I follow total strangers to see their interesting projects. I don't want to pose as a friend to a person I hardly know. Plus, it doesn't totally eliminate the popularity concept.No support because of this

No support because changing the name won't stop people from wanting them.

yeah im agreeing with all of you, its a stupid idea. :pI liked it when I first read it. I hate follow culture. I don't even know how many followers I have. Scratch isn't about that. Of course, I read on and found ‘friend’ wouldn't work so well either. Maybe we should combat it a different way, like removing the full count of followers for a user when checking the full list so you'd have to count up the rows. Maybe even removing the messages sent when someone follows you. I dunno.

Yeah, followers aren't really my thing either, and the only reason I follow people is becausethey have good work, and almost always good graphic design. It is not a {Removed} idea. Its normal for a topic to not get a lot of supports.

Why not name them: “Favored Scratcher(s)” for following and “Favored by:” for followers, or, Fellows for people you follow, and followers is Your Fellows?I think something realated to this would be a good replacement.
Friends isn't so good because that isn't a great way to describe liking a complete stranger…
P.S. subscriber is more of payment wise then follower wise…
