Oh, then you're talking about Scratch using emails. There are either these two things-

1. Email comfornation- Where you conform your emails (Which I think you did) so you can use all of the features of Scratch. Newer accounts require it and it is to prevent spambots.

2. Contact-us- Where the user can send an email to the ST

By Scratch emails we mean emails we make specifically for use with scratch, such as my {e-mail removed by moderator. Please don't share e-mails or other forms of personal contact information on the Scratch website}
It keeps our personal info private because we don't have to share our personal info on Scratch, yet we can still correspond if necessary.
