My first reaction?
Massive rage about the paint editor.
Vector graphics are very situation dependent.

Very first impression: Well, the new look is just plain awesome *-* I really like those boxes for shared projects and featured projects and that you can scroll, using the arrows or the scrolling bar!

What's also cool is the new user profile! It's a nice thing that users can write something about themselves and their projects. It's also cool, that these two things are seperated, as well as Instructions and notes and credits are now seperated.

I tried to drag and drop my shared projects to change there order, but I was kind of disappointed, this is not possible. It did make sense though, when I noticed that you can sort them by date and so on, if you click Show more. Show more is a great thing btw!

First impression of the project editor: Why are my scripts no longer in the middle of the screen? While testing the whole thing, I got used to the new look though! Especially changing between See inside and Project page is great.

The new vector editor is pretty okay. I still miss some functions like fuse two objects and the eraser is a bit weird, but else I could use it intuitively and I really like that it's now based on vector graphics!

And then, the whole thing suddenly started to autosave my testproject, even though I never wanted to save that thing xD Please make it possible to turn the autosave off! I really like to save the projects myself, while others may appreciate that they don't have to save the project. I think, everybody should have the choise.

For me, the site is too confusing and very difficult to navigate. I liked having the downloaded version and site separate, so I guess I'll wait for the downloaded version. I really don't like the paint editor. It just makes no sense to me.

First impressions? Let's see…

*The first thing I did was stare in awe at how new, clean and complicated the new website looked. Next, I logged in and clicked the ‘Create’ button to check out the new features. Next I searched around for my friends and asked if they'd “Made it here”.

*Although the website is great in quality, I found the drawing features very confusing. I didn't even know how to use the fill tool, and it messed all my drawings up! Honestly I still don't understand how I'm supposed to use it, or how it will help. The way the lines automatically smooth over after you let go is a nice update, although it somewhat changes the style and it would be nice if you could turn the smoothing on and off.

*I like it because you can see what your friends are up to any time you want on the front page, which is useful seeing as I'm an active RPGer. I also like how you can just pop in and comment on your friends' pages, just to say ‘hi’! I think these new features will help build community and interaction, thanks Scratch Team!

Thanks for listening,

What are your first impressions?

It's hard to use the new paint editor because of it's layout.

Thanks for the feedback! Can you say more about how the layout makes things difficult (or how you feel it could be improved?)

Now that I've had more time with it
(I suppose this won't be my true FIRST impressions, but at least impressions as someone unexperienced with 2.0)
So many things that got moved around are a LOT more difficult and less intuitive to find now. In the old forums I saw so many suggestions described as “too complicated to be understood by everyone, so we can't add it” but it seems like so much of the layout would be just as bad to try and have someone young use.
I couldn't find the sprite overview area (where you rotate it/set it's ability to be dragged/ability to be rotated) for the first 6 days or so! I only recently figured out how to delete my projects (it's always been in My Stuff (excuse me, Profile), why assumed THAT changed?) I had always sort of thought of that area as the “hub area” of the sprite, so to have it be tied to the thumbnail instead of the sprite's scripting area felt bizarre.
As detailed here: http://beta.scratch.mit.edu/forums/topic/1796/ I accidentally shared an entirely unchanged project as a remix THREE times due to the new sharing layout.
Still getting used to the new “events” tab but that is more of an “I am unaccustomed to it” problem than a problem problem.

It's not immediately obvious that the Landscape and Megaphone are how you import things directly from Scratch, the file always felt fine for that but I suppose that would conflict with importing from your own computer since they aren't the same anymore. Even then, they were text buttons in 1.4 so there was never a possibility of confusion.

Exactly how loud and how much motion is >10

The spiral is a really, really weird symbol for remixes. That should probably be a circle of arrows (like you see in a triangle for recycling, but a circle) or something, I suppose.

Also, it seems like “Instructions and Notes” would be better together than “Notes and Credits”. I realize it's just the title of the sections with no real bearing on anything, but I normally put notes throughout instructions or something of the sort.

Thanks for the feedback, soupoftomato!
Look for updates to the help screens in the coming days - that may help with the motion question (but that number is really hard to grasp / explain - I don't fully understand it myself. Might need a wiki page when it comes down to it.)

re: sprite overview ( now the ‘i’) area - some of us really agree that that needs work, but we're not sure exactly how best to improve it. If you'd care to make suggestions / mocks, we'd love to see / hear them! It'd be great to find a good way of making that info easier to find.
