I don't support as this'll cause more issues and conflict between other users.

Also, giving users rewards like that would just cause riots from other users complaining that the system is unfair.

I'm only suggesting to add a comp bar in the home screen! Comps are fun in scratch, and many scratchers can learn ( I did ) from comps
Bullies are there, we just need to ignore them, if ppl get upset, it's just a part of life

@ littlefluffyunicorn: Did you read Sonickyle's post? Scratch isn't about fame and the ST won't create a competition bar. Also, how will a competition be set up?
Also, adding a competition bar and saying that it's life isn't exactly a reason.

Exactly. There is no true reason why competitions should be added if the only effects that it'll have are negative ones.

Scratch is not about competing for the champion title. It's not about fame. It's not about glory. It's not about getting lots and lots of likes. It's not about earning a trophy and bragging to your friends about it. Scratch is about learning to code in a kid-friendly environment where everyone is equal and all projects are great projects. It is about improving on your programming skills while helping others to improve on their skills as well. Telling them, “Your project sucks. You're out of the comp,” isn't helping them improve. It's just telling them that they're bad at programming, and they're gonna interpret that as “I'm so horrible, I should just give up.” That is not what Scratch is about. In Scratch, there are no “bad” programmers or “bad” programs. The guy who creates a simple project isn't a “horrible programmer” and the guy who creates a 3D shooter with super-high quality graphics, online multiplayer, and built-in AI isn't “better than everyone else”. That is the true reason why Scratch has no official competitions.

Scratch is already too based on glory and fame. The worst thing to do is to make scratch more based on glory and fame. That is what competitions would do. Instead of making the problem worse, we should make it better, by supporting equality more.

So sure. People get upset and angry when they lose in real life. It's a part of life. But this is supposed to be a kid-friendly environment. Which means we need to do our best to make sure users DON'T get upset and angry. Being told your projects suck isn't supposed to be a part of Scratch. If we were okay with including everything that was “a part of life,” then… well… let's just say this would be a 18+ site.

All I asked was for a comp tab for scratchers who have nothing to do, no ideas, do just have fun with comps
I see why everyone is saying NO
It would just be easier!
Fine you can all just write NO SUPPORT, but you are missing the whole point I'm doing this
Comps are there in the world (surely you have entered one and enjoyed it WITHOUT winning)

And, if you think losing is part of the world and that people should learn to accept it instead of getting mad, then maybe you should set an example and not get mad right now.

Bullying could happen anytime - I suppose most people won't just think that as they have lost one competition they are going to leave. It sounds like a pretty silly scenario to me.
Note: I am not Supporting OR Not Supporting. All I want to say is that, if there would be a competition bar, I wouldn't want there to be any winners - just entering for the fun of it.

Why don't you just click the Explore button and then type “contest” in the tag section? (Or “cc” because most contests on Scratch are coloring contests anyway).

Or you can find studios that contain contests like
https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/212459/
https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/409854/

(If you're looking for stuff like the Color Wars, though, I have no idea - I guess you could search them. )
If the only point of the competition bar is to find competitions, why not just follow the above suggestions?

Part of scratch is learning how to handle situations as an adult. Having a competitions bar where people can find competitions would be a good idea to prepare users for real-life situations of winning and losing.

@Everyone: This is not a “scratch isn't about fame” thing. It's a suggestion to help users FIND competitions. By your logic we should ban competitions outright because “scratch isn't about fame” and “people are unequal and might get sad.”

@ChocolatePi: Then all we would need to do is to sticky a topic in the Show and Tell forums with a directory of competitions. Only problem with that is the huge majority don't use the forums.
EDIT: Read Deerleg's post.

1. If we wanted to prepare people to lose, then wouldnt we just host our own comps?
2. If you want to find comps, use @Deerleg's suggestion-

I do that… BUT I always come across remixes and comps I do not like. We could add what the community is loving ‘thing’ in it
