How I do extensions
You can't save it but that doesn't matter if you just want to test it and make sure it works
- Put your JS file on a website (like pomf)
- Go into the ScratchX editor with no extensions loaded
- Shift-click the file button
- Click “Import experimental extension”
- Paste your URL

You can use Dropbox for js file storage provided you add ?dl=0 to the file link.
You could also use gwiddle, free web hosting made by a scratcher for scratchers
