Why is there a new forum?
It was too confusing for new people.
That there were posts from a year ago?

That, and that forum was definitely geared toward people who had already dived into extension stuff rather than discovering extensions or learning how to make them.It was too confusing for new people.

Interesting. A new forum definitely prevents necroposts (I may have unwittingly made some on that forumThat, and that forum was definitely geared toward people who had already dived into extension stuff rather than discovering extensions or learning how to make them.It was too confusing for new people.

Why is there a new forum?
The old one was created as a private forum, visible to only a select group of extension developers and the Scratch Team. The conversations that took place there were made with the expectation that only that limited set of people would be seeing them. So, while there may not have been anything particularly sensitive discussed, it just didn't feel right to suddenly transition it to a public forum. So we made this nice shiny new one instead Why couldn't we just use the old one?

Because they felt that it would be held private? And I guess it kind of feels “shiny new”.
And now that we've got this answer, I'm closing it. (Because someone is gonna be looking at this in 2017 and be so stupid they necropost (another reason for the new forum) )
