The old thread got deleted so here we are.

We are trying to recreate this OS as a real OS, like windows, mac OS, linux etc.

You can find the latest install script here. Instructions in the README.

I have an idea, we install gnome on arch distro (done), and then we use gnome-extensions to customize it to look like orange os (can be done, believe it or not ubuntu desktop just ads a bunch of gnome extensions from vanilla gnome), and then use turbowarp packager to add the apps. The only problem is making them run start.sh when the button is clicked, hopefully not too hard.

I added the orange os bg, here is what it looks like rn

I'll publish packaging guidelines soon, this will say exactly what settings to do in turbowarp packager etc.

It's gonna take me a while, so you should probably just play around with gnome-extsnions to see what we can use, and figure out how we can make clicking the icons start apps. As well as the official gnome extension stuff, you can find stuff here too: https://www.gnome-look.org/browse/

You could make a custom icon set for the OS.

lfs is quite literally compiling like 200 applications one by one, one at a time, painfully. Until after WEEKS of work you have a basic system. BASIC.. BASIC SYSTEM.

Naah, were porting all the orange os apps to this. Easy with turbowarp packager.
