EVERYONE! THIS IS NOT ABOUT FAME, BUT ABOUT HOW NICE/RESPECTFUL/HELPFUL THE USER IS.

I think we should have a featured users section. I see a lot of really good users that don't get noticed. (And no I'm NOT trying to get noticed with this.)
There would be a featured Scratcher AND a featured NEW scratcher.
Limit followers: (NS: 10) (S: 50) Does that sound good?

Here's my idea:

Thanks guys! I thought everyone would hate it! By the way, that isn't why I wrote this. Everyone who posted so far loved it!

Hmmm… again, this has been suggested many times to the ST.

I can't offer my opinion, because, well, I have none. Here's why:

Pros:
Scratchers with more experience get their work seen more.
Featured Scratchers get a morale boost.
The community gets to see examples of the best ways to use Scratch.
More focus on quality.
Popularity spreading from Featured Scratchers to the others that show up linked in their profiles.
New Scratchers who need a boost and get featured will feel much more encouraged.

And now, unfortuately, the
Cons:
Featured Scratchers bragging.
New Scratchers might feel discouraged by this.
Spam-like “feature me!” requests. (I mean more stuff like this. It's a con with almost any suggestion.)
Further imbalance from focus on projects to a Scratcher's popularity.
Hate messages: “You think you're so cool ‘cause you’re featured but you're not” type of thing.
More work for the Scratch Team. (Another con that is almost universal.)
When featured Scratchers turn rotten or do stupid things.

Perhaps the Pros list should be longer. If anyone can name some stuff I forgot, let me know.

Maybe there could be like one featured New Scratcher and just the regular design for the rest. Oh wait! Maybe like one featured New Scratcher and one featured Scratcher!

For the spam thing, can't you already spam with “love-it”, “fave-it”, “comment” and “follow me? Plus, you can do that with projects and studios: ”Feature my studio!“ ”Feature my project!“

For some others, has anyone remembered about the ”Report this user" button?

(I will remove things from the cons list as I think of ways.)

For all the cons, Failord, wouldn't they apply to the Featured Projects bar as well? Though I think your last one brings up a very good point.

I don't think you need to bump your post if it the second topic in the forums.

Oh, sorry. I just guess if it's down or not. I'll start checking.
