You should get a notification when you are quoted in a topic that you didn't necessarily want to follow but now you know if someone replied to you. It would only send a notification when it quotes directly you, not if you are deep in the quote chain.
Look at the top notification:

I am not good a HTML don't judge .
Thoughts? Ideas?

How about no:

Well, maybe yes if it doesn't send a kajillion quote messages in a given time.

LeDerpy123

^ True… ^
What if it was like the regular forum notification where it won't add a new one until you read that notification?

ProdigyZeta7

Still, wouldn't following a topic be more efficient or do you want the option to only receive messages when quoted?

PullJosh

Settings to enable or disable it, maybe?

Chibi-Matoran

I would like to be notified when someone quotes you`re forum post. After all, we do receive notifications when someone replies to our comments, and quoting forum posts are often used to reply. It would make it easier to continue the discussion so you don`t have to follow every topic you post something on or frequently check your posts.

It'd be tricky to implement without an easy way to abuse it, like spamming:

And jvvg would get notified a ton for this in Suggestions, he made the WNTS sticky.

But if this would work in the most possibly perfect way, I would support.

But what if somebody just typed in the quote code with the user that wrote it in a whole different topic?

That's right (btw it's what mathfreak231 said too). But it's a good idea anyway… Don't know if I support…

cheddargirl

It would be nice, but given the way the forum structure works, there wouldn't be a way to add it in, I'm afraid.

savaka

I can't believe no one has thought of this yet.
Maybe a [no-message-quote] to not send a message if it's irrelevant to do so.
Quotes with no person and quotes with a name that isn't a username will not send a message also.

What if someone were to spam an ST like this:
