PullJosh

I'm cheap, so I've started working on a list of all of the good free things. You can find it here. You ATers tend to know about all the good free things, so I figured I'd ask around and see what things I should add.

Let me know here of any cool things that I should add to the list!

Atom is basically GitHub's Sublime - it can be used for more than web dev

Also Sublime Text is technically not free… coughcoughcoughdidn'tbuyitcoughcoughcough

(also “ads” not “adds”)

Linux is free, right?

Cmder is a great free terminal thingy for Windows

iTerm2 for OS X

Nah, plain old LaTeX with TeXworks masterrace

Also, you gained a virus when installing gyazo? Wat?

Pl0x add
  • Eclipse (and netbeans and intellij if you want)
  • Miktex (windows) / latexlive (linux) / mactex (osx) although I can only verify the swag of miktex
  • WinSCP
  • If it fits, VLC (the best video player ever created can also convert video)

ChocolatePi

Um

GNU/Linux

ChocolatePi

Hey, what about Vim? At least Emacs?

Argh, I've been a gyazo fan basically forever but I just discovered that gyazo doesn't let you access screenshots that are more than 2 months old without pro. Switching to lightshot now, I'll see how it goes

@PullJosh please note that under gyazo on the repo.

Or you could just send everything to imgur…

There should be a screenshotting app/extension that supports imgur. I'm not sure which one, though.

Firedrake969

git for SCM

There should be a cubeupload screenshotting application, seriously.

Do you mean free as in FSF's definition or just as in you don't have to pay to use it?

From the top line of the readme, I'd assume free as in $0 but not necessarily open source.

Ok.
I'm pretty OK with that but not with too much.
(nitpicking: Why Open Source misses the point of Free Software, though IMO Open Source is a major part and we want people to still know what Open Source is.)
