About this Class
Stories in Code gives students the opportunity to be creative while combining writing, design, programming, and art. This is a semester long course and starts with a hero character. Students will imagine and create a hero character (sprite) based on their own strengths and struggles. From this, students will then create a story that helps to explain their hero’s strengths and struggles. At this point students will begin designing their hero using 2D and 3D technology. Once the hero has been designed, we 3D print this design for students to keep. After this, students begin using programming to create either a game with their hero or an interactive digital story. As they develop the story using programming they also develop the world that the hero inhabits using 3D design. Once they finish the 3D world we open the 3D world model in a VR viewer and students are able to visit the world and meet their hero face-to-face.
