A run-of-the-mill school near jamestown, virginia...
or so it seems.
Veneficium is teeming with lies, mysteries and, most of all, demons.
A normal school to some, the uninformed, everything is absolutely normal. Some of the students and teachers might seem a little odd, but hey, that's just personality.
right?

Beneath the fragile mask of conventionality lies a curse of a thousand years
People, normal in appearance, are possessed by terrible creatures, beasts the likes of you only find in legends- and anyone can have control taken from them by these demons... And then there's no going back.
Witches roam the grounds... Beings of mystery and violence.
They corral the possessed- and seek out those who are newly attacked.
More and more people are becoming possessed, becoming Infectus. Are new spirits arising? Do the infectus have any chance?
The Curse was set thousands of years ago. It has a murky history, there are many different accounts on why the curse was cast, and no one has the full account of the entire curse, but everyone knows one thing.
It could mean the end of all of them.

CONFLICT: (for those of you who didn't catch it... and to make it clearer)
it is extraordinarily painful to become an infectus, but more and more people are being attacked. the more warlike humans, if they find an infectus, will try to kill it IMMEDIATELY, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to hide the infectus within the school. Also, there are oddities with the newer infectus; ancient demons, mutations, injuries, maladies, terrible pain every time they are taken over by the demon (which wouldn't ordinarily be normal).
It is expected that the curse will take its course soon... and they don't even know the full aspects of it. This could mean certain death for all the infectus, witches, sprites, and possibly humans.
Charries you can control:
Infectus (audition required): people who have been infected by the spirit of a demon or monster. if you wanna get boring and general about it, they're kind of like werewolves, but that's just stupid... infectus have partial control over themselves but sometimes it's like they're visitors in their own body. your charrie can be possessed by basically anything~ vampires, cyclops, gorgons, you name it, there 99.9999% chance that i'll let you be that infectus.
just no unicorns or fairies or things like that. pls. :P
grades 7-12, can also be teachers, but not preferred.
IMPORTANT NOTE: you can start your character off as a human before they're attacked (that's what i'm doing with ash) and then rp the part where they DO get attacked...or they can already be infectus. Your choice, please tell me in the audition :)
you can also choose if your infectus is being affected by the mutations, maladies, ETC as stated in the conflict.
witches: not like the spellcasting potion-brewers of ancient texts, these witches are born witches from normal parents for a reason unknown to anyone. Witches are often ostracized by their mother and father, so they are very independent and usually live beneath the school.. where the other demons lurk.
Female only, Witches are grades 7-12, but being grade 8 or older is preferred.

can be friends with demons or witches but not know about their condition
humans, if told about the curse, will most likely attack all infectus and witches relentlessly; this is part of the curse.
sprites: male or female, these creatures absolutely LOATHE all witches and infectus. Given then chance, they would tell then humans about the curse and watch idly by while they attacked. Sprites resemble normal humans except for a few tip-offs; icy blue eyes, teeth are more pointed than normal, very fast and nimble. Some possess slight amounts of dark power, which allows them to cast spells over witches, humans and infectus alike.
note: THEY HAVE WINGS!!!!!!! xD
Sprites hold deep secrets that they not even be aware of, horrid nightmares that plague them without warning. They may hold a revealing part to the aspects of the curse and what caused it.
