It does move out, but I included some "limits". I added a block that stops the script if certain conditions are met (so, if the sprite moves too far away in one direction, the script stops).
The "back" ground in my project is not a background. It is a normal sprite, I just make it move in the counter direction that you choose (if you click right it moves left) while the "main character" stays in the centre of the "space". Regarding the variables, they are in Spanish and English. It is only the in-game text that is in German. Anyway, you do not really need to understand the variables to understand the "movement" scripts. I hope that this helps.
I was just playing my game online and I realized that it runs faster so you might not want to download it.

Download the 24 sprites and 42 scripts of "The Last Stand" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
aim with mouse, click to shoot, defend yourself, the blue bots move faster and don't have to go over the bridges to get to you, the black ones have to go over the bridge but they are invincible untill they have crossed, after round one you have the ability to temporarily take out a bridge, w for the west bridge, and n for the north bridge, the large readout is how long you've lasted, see how long you can last
PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY
bugs- it runs slow sometimes, and if you're hit sometimes it doesn't stop the game, sometimes you have to press the n or w key more than once to get it the bridge to disappear

yeah, it's too easy because they come at you in a straight line
Great game! Perhaps the next version should have some simple enemy AI to make them less predictable.
