Thanks Mohlar but I've put this game to bed now it was my first real attempt and it did have bugs. BTW shoot the water barrel that eventually pops up for an extra life :-)
I would guess that the freeware images you used have either had to have their backgrounds made invisible in the editor, or maybe they were small images in the first place. They look indistinct. I've had this problem as well - especially with animated 'gifs. Whatever file format it was that you accessed, it might be worth trying a few alternatives. Maybe also adding a few extra 'innocents' who end the game if you kill them - or possibly earn you a minus score on a counter so the game can go on for longer? Good game, though. Nice and simple and yet fun.
If you download and open the game in scratch change the repeat from 40 to 100 for each character else the game will run too fast!
Update - game now with extra life bonus. Any other comments on how to improve the game please post. (high score update coming soon)
