just as an offer, i offer to help with ScratchSoft OS.With a little work I could create save features, document creators, even realistic shutdown, etc. I have downloaded the project and am working on it now. Just tell me if you want to start some sort of development team and I can see it now, ScratchSoft OS 1.0. Anyway, comment back with your opinion.
Not actually very long.
(but, to tell the truth, I was completely glued to the computer for the whole time)
I'd say it took about five to six hours for the paint app and the OS shell.
It also took another good four or so hours for the calculator I added in recently
toontownmiser: I`m making one like and you gave me the Idea. and this is cool. mine is going to have sound and stuff how it loads up.
and I`ve been working on mine for about a weak and im still working on it
how long did you work on yours?
Thanks, but I'm not, really. I have a little (tiny) bit of experience in Java, so Scratch is really a great way to help me learn more about programming scructures.
Yeah, this is great! Wonderful background effects and a fine Draw program. One glitch: in Draw when you move the pencil down toward the colors, the "Clear" menu item appears in FRONT of the pencil. You just need to move it back a layer or so. Your project has lots of fans!
Wow! very professional UI. I like your animated menus. It would be so cool (but hard to implement) to be able to have 'real' draggable windows.... I love it anyway!
This is my first shot at a Scratch-based operating system.
To use it, click the button with the icon at the bottom-left, then navigate the menus.
v1.1 includes:
-2 Programs
-DrawIt
-FigureIt (calculator)
-4 settings:
-Button/Icon color shifting
-Background color shifting
-Background shade shifting
-Optional Background image
-0 Documents
-You can click the buttons that branch off this menu, but there are no files in them.

impressive how long did it take to make it? ~A fair amount. I'd say 4-6 hours, Including debugging, and making the images.

/agree w/ jay. ambitious. anything with the single tag "operating systems" gets my vote, lol...

At the moment, the pencil is supposed to appear on the color palatte, just not over the background or the plus/minus size buttons.
(view all replies)Comment Reply
I found a glitch: in DrawIt, if you drag the mouse off of the window really fast and onto the color thingy, the pencil appears on the color thingy.

If what I've heard about Vista is true, I agree with Yummy.
