for inverting stuff (like adding the negative vel_change_y), a simpler way is (0 - vel_change_y) rather than (vel_change_y - (2 * vel_change_y))

It's fun to play with the velocities and see how they "feel". It's also fun to make the velocities negative and try and control the cat :)
