1. Welcome to Scratch! 2. I recommend using the Scratch paint editor. It's the simplest for button-making. 3. (Here on out are tips for the Scratch editor.) For dividing the button in half, hold shift while drawing. It makes the lines perfectly straight. 4. Use the up/down gradient tool, with a white to your color gradient. If you have other questions, check out the Scratch Wiki or ask on any projects how stuff works. Scratch On!
I used this tutorial on my test account for my Warrior cat bio's but I prefer not a color one shade darker underneath, but the same color. To me it looks cooler. -_-
But actually, That one Looks REALLY cool! And actually, Yeah, only apple can make those. CAUSE ITS COPYRIGHTED! (The iPhone/IOS stuffs RE COPYRIGHTED, so that means the buttons are too)
(reply to below) Close, but on your button, the top half has a circular gradient instead of an up/down gradient. Also, the bottom half should be one shade darker. Otherwise, good job!
Another cool way to have a mouse over effect would be to make a button with two costumes, one where everything is one shade lighter than the other. Then you would place these blocks: Forever( if <mouse down>( set costume to lighterCostume) else( set costume to darkerCostume)). See my H2OS or vPad projects for examples.

I actually just colored the bottom half of the botton the same color shade as the top, just with no gradient. Looks sweet! Still, thanks for the base!

Wait... don't you fill in the bottom half with a gradient from one shade darker than your desired color to the desired color?
It really works either way. I sometimes forget to change the gradient setting. :3

Blue Highway.
Not sure. I'll check on that.
(view all replies)I found this REALLY helpful! Thank you so much!
Glad to hear it. :-)

This is a big file for what is actually is in the file. Other than that it is great!
I don't compress music. :3
Incredible! I'm a bit new to Scratch, so have you got any tips that could make this easier for me?
Check out my gallery. It has stuff to help new scratchers. (link to gallery) I hope you like scratch! :)

(view all replies)i THINK THE ONE OF THE FIRST PAGE IS da best.
(reply to below) Oh, ok. Thanks!
Do you mean the begin button, or the sample one on the intro page?
(view all replies)But actually, That one Looks REALLY cool! And actually, Yeah, only apple can make those. CAUSE ITS COPYRIGHTED! (The iPhone/IOS stuffs RE COPYRIGHTED, so that means the buttons are too)
(reply to below) LOLOLOLOLOLOL
I don't think so... But just in case, RUN AWAY FROM SOPA! Lol.
(view all replies)EASY! I always do that, I just make a rectangle, Cut a bit off the edges, And make the top half slightly lighter.
Nice!
Wow that looks professional.
^^ Thanks.
Realy cool.
Thanks! :D
to enhance the look of your buttons, you can use graphic effects on scratch and then use the grab screen region to make a costume.
Sure! Please notify me when it's posted.
(view all replies)I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Could you rephrase?
(view all replies)cool this hellped alot
:D Glad to hear it.
BUTTONS! Thanks, I'll use this.
Hope it helps!
No problem, its your project!
Thanks for understanding. :)
You should teach people how to make buttons that have different sprites depending on whether thay are touching the mouse, too :P
Oh yeah... I probably will.
:L
?

it tried it and IT WORKED! :)
:) Glad to hear it.
this is my project using your technique (sort of, kind of, a little...) (link to project)
Cool, thanks for letting me know!
oooohhhhh! aaahhh!!! *D shiny button!
One more thing. The top gradient should have white on the top, going down to blue. Great job!

(view all replies)Shiny...
(view all replies)it really looks shiny. awesome.
Thank you.
Wow, that was really cool! I usually just use GIMP, but you did it in Scratch!! :D
You can also do it in Pixlr if your well experienced.
(view all replies)Same, cbcollab told me what it was, I can make way better graphics with it!
(view all replies)I use gimp for all if my logos. Thanks!
(view all replies)Awesome! I always just drew a square, but this is a lot better! Simple, yet AWESOME!
Thanks, funelephant!
(view all replies)awsomesauce!
Thankyousauce!
(view all replies)Awesome tutorial! Very creative way to make a button, and I tried to make one... quick and easy! :D
Thank you, partyman!
(view all replies)Awesome!
Thanks, Lightnin!
I would usuly type a word, put a box around it then make it so if the mouse were to touch it the word would change colour.
Sorry, that should be <mouse touching SpriteWhatever> , not <mouse down> .
(view all replies)I will have to try this brakthrow in buttion technology in one of my projects. =P
I hope it helps! :D
Nice! Gonna use it in my next project (on my test account, LuxturnaTest)
Sweet! I'll have to check it out. :)
(view all replies)or just go to cooltext.com
True, but this gives you almost exactly the buttons on iOS.
(view all replies)it is pretty good!
(reply to below) Thank you for the compliment.
Thanks, jrickett!
