that's a lot of comments going off in all directions there targ...! I'll address this one first before going off to verify the other one: Yes I did. Just a few minutes doodling in the built in editor along a half remembered design of something i did about 15 years ago.
READ THE BELOW COMMENT FIRST. Do you rememmber who you said that to? Well you said it to Paddle2See, he is a member of the SCRATCH TEAM. And you practicly insulted him.
>_< ... ok ... ignore some of that. As before, I'm a relative n00b here, but I didn't realise quite how much - I only just noticed that all replies beyond level 2 are hidden by default til you hit that tiny-text "show all" button. Which is why I thought they were deleted. My apologies.
Also I owe you 1 minus-cookie for goading me into transgressing my own advice and rising to your challenge. D'oh. Well trolled, sir.
>_< my addendum to that will have to wait til I retype it thanks to the web java code crashing Firefox AGAIN, AND taking my precautionary clipboarded copy of the text with it. I'll have to retype it here in IE7 and hope THAT doesn't go down too.
No Targ, no I don't, I think you must have made that up as there's no evidence of it on that page... ;)
Funny that what looks like my giving advice to P2S to not get wound up about the same-old-same-old antics of some teen crybaby (as has been played out many times before on other fora) along with a more positive "it's flaky but stick with it!" is called an "insult" when there are many more _directly_ insulting things still on that comments list though.
Do you remember when you said this? oh fer cryin' out loud ... never heard of LiveJournal eh? People, please don't feed the "I'MA DELETE EVERYTHING AND QUIT!!!" trolls. I don't think the website works 100% (or even 80% sometimes) but it's worth struggling through with, and I'm not particularly bothered if my stuff gets toprated, just want to try and make something half decent. They're just whiney kids after attention at all costs, regardless of whether it's deserved.
lol, internet drama.
there's people being downright awful in that thread (not to mention the progentior being a brat), and you want to call this exasperated appeal for them to knock it the hell off and pointing out that the flaws they complain of are indeed irritating, but nothing more than that and don't spoil a very good application / not worth quitting over ... "insulting"?
hey thanks... gfx and idea for changing them relative to the controls are actually from my doing something similar in a thing called Shoot Em Up Construction Kit back when I was about 10 or 11 (early, early 90s) :D
Difference is now I don't have the benefit of its dedicated sprite editor (the Scratch one is ... not as helpful) or having all the base routines pre-coded, so I'm having to recreate them, from the most obvious here to more subtle ones later.
Download the one sprite and 3 scripts of "ship demo 2" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
version 2
First attempt at getting a bit of control-reactive ship animation on the go. Nine states with two frames each - Up, Up+Right, Right, Down+Right etc plus neutral, with short and long flames. Some costumes are shared, as neutral's long flame becomes "forwards" short flame, and vice versa for backwards.
Use cursors to move, including diagonals.
Yeah, i know ships don't need to thrust continuously or bank in real space. This is game space :)
Later, i'll work on getting bullets working, and enemies, and a scrolling background, and deaths, and scoring, and lives, and sound... and we'll have ourselves a simple little space shooter like wot I once made on the ST :-)

Cool, I like how the fire actually gets bigger when you go forward.
Did you draw that Sprite?

Cool Game!
not yet it isn't, but thanks for the interest :-)
