I am in an activity called FLL (First Lego League). It is a competition where you design robots to solve missions. This year's research theme is Climate Connections. However, there is a research part too. The guidelines for the research are:
You must show a climate issue effecting you local area, and compare it to another part of the world. It can be in the form of a skit, an animation, a game, or any other form of presentation.
We chose to do a skit about sea level rise. In our skit, DE has Flooded and we escape in a life raft. While we drift randomly, we meet a Hawaiian guy who escaped Hawaii before it flooded too. While he floats with us, he tells us about solutions to sea level rise. One is called Beach Nourishment. When we finished writing the script, my team felt that there wasn't enough of an explanation of Beach Nourishment. So, to explain it, I did what I do best: Scratch. I also added funny voiceovers with my team
ABOUT BEACH NOURISHMENT
When a beach's water level is higher that the sand, it could flood. When it is going to flood, workers add more sand to act as a barrier. However, when we add sand, we destroy animal habitats. This animation is how the animals feel about beach nourishment, in the form of scratch and voiceovers!
