This is my attempt at making a (close to) perfect textbox in Scratch, without using the "ask" block. And I decided, what the heck, while I'm at it, I might as well have some fun! :D
Soogle stands for Scratch's Google, and the finished project will look close to identical to the real Google, and I will even have search results!
It is not even close to being done, but since I haven't posted in a while, I decided I'd show everyone what I am working on.

That's because it isn't finished yet. And you'll find that the bits that are functioning work remarkably well.

That stinks. Have you tried unchecking the compress sounds and images option? It worked for me!
(view all replies)congrats, it looks great, what you really need are more options in the <key_pressed> block... if you want them badly enough, you could make a project asking for them. you can put it in this gallery of request projects which is looking rather empty at the mo. nice project :-) (link to gallery)

Eh why do we need this when we have got a search box on top you could have made scratchiclopedia which would be a scratch+scratcher+projects web2.0 encyclopedia
This was originally just a fun textbox experiment, but after a bunch of enthusiastic commentors, I think I might finish with this! And this will be kind of an encyclopedia. Who knows where it will go?

(view all replies)Cool! A good attempt, especially when you could simply use the ask box. I've done a number of projects not using the ask box, but that was before. I think you did a good job! Step 2: make the buttons do somthing!! :) nice job.
Thank you! For some reason, the ask box drives me crazy. I think it is because it is so limited, and I had made so many projects trying to overcome the textbox barrier and now it's like . . . all my work is for nothing.

Very cool. It looks just like the real thing. Can't wait for the finished version with search functionality.

If you look through the buttons you can use on scratch, youre not allowed to use the backspace button. The best he could do is use the left arrow key.

you mean the character # or actual numbers? # and backspace are impossible for scratch unless you use the ask block, just so you know.

OK, here is what is going to happen. I am finishing the basics as I type, and soon I am going to open it up for people. If they make a remix with new search results and such, I will add it to the main project.
