Hi back! I am in Cambridge, and this project is a demonstration for a workshop at MIT. I'm thinking about doing Scratch combined with the History Alive workbook next year, where kids do Scratch projects for the map activities like this. What do you think?
Is this completely finished or are you still working on it may I ask? Also, I think it would be nice to be able to click again to get out of the Info box with out having the artifact come back up again. ^^;
This is meant for my students to finish, when we come back in the fall. The info box goes away on its own after a number of seconds for reading...maybe that is set too long. That's something my class can test out--thanks for the comment.
Student assignment: Finish this project providing information about historical Native American cultural regions in North America.
1. Read about Native American cultural regions from your History Alive textbook.
2. Create an interactive thematic map in Scratch giving: - the region name several tribes from the region - a sample artifact from the region and - its use/connection to the region's resources
3. Assessment criteria: • Information is accurate and summarizes main ideas from reading. • Project provides interesting animation, original artwork. • User interface is clear. • Project resets. • Project works without bugs.
[ This project connects to an assignment from the US History Alive America's Past social studes curriculum, unit 3.]

Hi Karen. Are the students supposed to make the other artifacts? Oh, by the way, one of the things doesn't disappear.
