The velocity is better but I have some suggestions for the jump script. You shouldn't make it so that you automatically jump when you hit the ground if you have the jump button pressed. Most people don't notice it, but real video games don't work like that. Also, you should make it so that you can trigger the double jumpby hitting the jump button the second time any time during the jump. I could make a demonstration with the jump script I just described and reasonable velocity
