Have you ever heard of Context Free? It's an image rendering tool that can be used to create fractals. I made a Sierpinski Carpet in it. It's really cool! (both the carpet and CF)

You should do the Super Gasket. This is like Sierpinski's triangular gasket but it has ten triangles in it. An excellent tool for representing numbers. See this article. http://galaxy.gmu.edu/~drsuper/art1.html

Yes, Menger's Sponge is a three-dimensional extension of Sierpinski Carpet.
