i downloaded BOTH of the programs and compared them. i DON'T think they are copied(90% sure). both of them look like they are modified from johnm's pong.
i don't really think she copied from you[jamie]. there is alot of pong games on this site and they are all similar. if she did copied it then she would have changed it alot.
I would invite anyone with good ideas about how to foster sharing (in a way that most people are happy) to contribute their thoughts to the forum thread initiated by jamie: (link to forums)
jamie, I think you're right that it would be nice to give credit to others, however we don't want to force people to give credit.
We are working on displaying the date in which a project was uploaded to the website. I think this way you can easily see who created a project first. Do you think that would solve the problem?
In general, we want to foster collaboration and sharing. I always feel proud if someone copies me even if they don't give credit.
Jamie, that's kind of the point of Scratch, don't you think? People can download each other's project, learn from them, modify them, and even improve on them. I like the colored backgrounds. When Mick copied Mina's Kill the Computer project to make Kill the Computer 2, Mina didn't complain, she just got inspired to make an even better game.
In my projects, I have added this: - - A SCRATCH user called "mina" has taken this game, changed the theme and called it "whack-pong", and said that SHE created it, please not that IT WAS MY CREATION, AND I CREATED IT FROM SCRATCH!!
Jamie - Creator of "Pong 2.1"
This is an imposter! It is my game, Pong 2.1, with a different theme!!! Please be aware that the original version of this game is "Pong 2.1" by jamie. mina just opened my version in Scratch and changed the design to a FANCY COLOURS THEME!!.
PLAY MINE, IT'S BETTER!
