One of the best projects i have ever seen. Simply amazing. I have noticed that you used a various number of sprites to "sense", and "set _ to _". I like the way you used variables instead of broadcasting. I really enjoy people who create projects that put a lot of effort into them. By the way, my best was 128. lol. :-)
graphics 7- simple, and the background it a photo
Sounds 10- awesome sounds to suit the game
gameplay 9.5- jawbreaker is a fun game, and this is a lot like it.
Originality 10- never heard of a jawbreaker game on scratch.
this was part of the inspiration behind my latest project (link to project) . the main difference is that the colours dont have to be inline to be removed. oh and the way i got 2323 was cos i was lucky enough to get a multipleir of 5.something.
Hey mdusoe, you will have control of the Scratch Tournament until I make my return in about a month... Simply do the rating each friday and try to answer as many questions as possible.
after each set of drops, the meter is increased by the number of points that you earned. So for example, you will earn less time for a swap that drops one group of 3 than you will for a swap that results in 2 groups of 5. And the multiplier really starts to climb when you use one swap to clear 3, and the dropping balls cause more balls to clear, which then clears more balls, etc. In other words, the longer the chain of drops, the higher your multiplier will go, and your time increases by your score after the multipler has been applied.
Download "swap it v2"(52 sprites and 377 scripts) and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
This is v2
Click a ball, and then an adjoining ball to "swap" them. Any groups of 3 or more in a row of the same color will disappear, and the marbles will fall, possibly creating more groups. the more balls that disappear in one turn, the higher your multiplier will go. When the timer runs out, the game is over
Cool techniques used:
- Each ball dynamically sets its position on "Initialize", so that if I change the ball sprite, I only have to copy it 35 times, and they realign themselves.
- row and column checkers perform their operations by checking if they touch 3 of the same color, then stampthemselves. When they are done, "doneChecking" is broadcast, and all balls go through their disappear routine if they are touching the stamped color.
- The timer
Things I would like to add/fix:
- Better sounds
- multipliers for groups of 4 and 5, and for more than one group on the same turn.
- The timer image should blend better
- give the balls a better 3D look.
But anyway, I hope you enjoy!
