I made it so the train points in the right direction. Used an idea from Scratch Master Jasper: I have a ghost train sprite run ahead of the train and the train points toward the ghost train. Next step: remove the constraint that the tiles must be placed in order.
By all means take this and improve it. Perhaps adding a third list to record the type of track in each location would enable a (non-circular) train to know which way to turn. Maybe add scenery, obstacles, fires and fire hoses, wild animals, etc.
nice but I forgot to lay the track in the right sequence. Mind if I try to remix this to improve glitches?
Download this project!
Download the 14 sprites and 89 scripts of "Train Set" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
Lay down some track, click forward, and sit back and enjoy the show as a happy black train navigates the path you created. You control the speed and direction. I think I can, I think I can!
Be sure to lay the track in the same sequence as you want the train to travel. Train Set works by recording the x and y coordinates of each click as you lay the track.
Train Set is admittedly bland as is, but could serve as an excellent starting point for any sort of tile-based game such as Sim City or an exploration of cellular automata.

This is very nice...but not totally new territory. Check this out (link to project) I like what you have here though, very clean look!

WOW AWESOME!
This has kept me entertained for a good while! I saw it as soon as it came out and started playing!
wow this is amazing you obviously spent allot of work on this!
really nice! and its nice to see youve made another project!
Really nice. I think if you or someone else could add a realistic looking train, and switches, it would be an incredible project.
pretty good
