I've not been entirely happy with dragging pegs onto the color changers. Perhaps I should simply have 6 pegs permanently located there, and clicking on a peg brings it into play. I'm not so sure about the copying idea—I'll have to think about that one.
A very nice implementation! I'm thinking the number of mouse operations can be reduced by 1) having the color changing pallet produce a peg of the correct color from thin air when it is clicked rather than dragging a peg over to it. 2) Allowing a peg to be "copied" from a previous (or current) guess by clicking on it. These suggestions sort of violate the illusion of physical pegs but would speed up play considerably. Particularly if you're using a laptop with an "iffy" mouse click button (like mine)!
you said this on my forums:

can you show me that script in blocks? I don't understand that script
Got it in 5! Really well done, great detail. My only complaint is that your adherence to the original look interfers a bit with the playability - you should remove the little black dots from behind the feedback numbers - they make it harder to read. Or maybe use a color brighter than black! Beautifully done, good job.
Graphics- 8 good recreation of the actual game
Gameplay-10 master mind is a good braingame
Originality-9, it hasn't been done on scratch
OVerall 9, thats pretty good.
An array is collection of variables that can be accessed by number: x[0] x[1] ... x[n]
They are a very important programming concept that was deliberately left out of Scratch, to keep Scratch simple for beginners.
Download "MasterMind"(9 sprites and 42 scripts) and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
This is the classic MasterMind game.
My son Abe helped me with the design and programming.
We *really* wish that Scratch had arrays, as the game would take about 1/3 as many blocks of code.

You are thinking of the little red and white pegs, not the big ones that are part of the pattern pegs.
(view all replies)Comment Reply
They are for determining how many are right and in the wrong place, (white) and for how many are right in the right place.
(view all replies)Comment Reply
Oh, and also, remember that your not supposed place red and white pegs in the pattern.

The programming is not that difficult. Read the code a little at a time, and you'll get there.
