Download "compass needle sim"(one sprite and 3 scripts) and open it in Scratch Project Notes
The mouse pointer is magnetic and srews up the direction of the needle. Hold N for just North and hold M for just mouse. this sometimes doesnt work the first time so keep pressing refresh (or F5) till it works.

Seems a bit Westward(put the cursor tip in the middle of the gray circle to see what I mean). But it's pretty good.
