For a class, I'm helping the Scratch team think about possible new communication features for the website. They haven't decided on anything yet. Whenever they get to the point of seriously considering options, they'll listen to any feedback you provide. Make your voice heard!
I've made a Scratch-screen cast of some possible features. Please leave comments and include some of your own ideas, whether through sketches and/or Scratch projects.

Cool, but one thing: The "friend's latest projects" thing is already on the front page... but it could say "two days ago" "3 hrs ago" on the front page anyway!

thanks! feel free to make a project talking about features you would like with respect to communication in scratch. check out the gallery to see what others have already made. html/css is easy to learn, but it doesn't have to be that fancy :)

thanks :) if you have any of your own ideas, feel free to make a scratch project showing it. it doesn't have to be realistic with html/css (but it can. it's not difficult). it can just be a sketch. also, thoughts about pros and cons for any new features would be helpful. scratch on!

Great ideas! The friend feed would be good for more experenced users to check up on new users
Very good ideas! I have on more that I would suggest; folders for different types of projects because lots of users are making new accounts just o post widgets, fixed projects, etc. folders would also so they don't have to go on two accounts sending comments when they can do it one.

thanks, but it would be good if people who want to talk more about the features can talk there. it's kind of messy trying to do it in the project comments section. anyways, i read all the comments people leave, so that's cool too.

thanks! please make your own scratch project or comment on the forum, talking about pros/cons of new features or your own ideas. in order for scratch team to seriously consider real changes, we need more than just "i love it"s :) scratch-on!

yep, for simplicity, i wanted to highlight new features. again, nothing is set in stone. we want to see what features people like. also, if you have your own suggestions and ideas on what would be the pros and cons about new features, please scratch a project or comment on the forum! thanks

That's a great idea! I am completely supportive of a Profile Page revamp. One thing I think would be great for a project though, would be a "Recently Visited" button, so that a user could revisit a page that they recently paid a visit to. Also, I think that there should be a "Personal Message" bar, so that users could send a message to a friend, without having to post it for all to see. I guess that would actually work sort of like a Scratch-provided Email service.
would the recently visited be like a browser history? for personal messages, these would be private, so do you think it is easier to cyber bully? check out my other project about the 'project page' and feel free to post to the forum :) thanks!

a way to see witch of your friends are on and who was on recently and put that notifier on ur profile or make it next to ur friends name when you look on ur friend page like say i look at WolfDemon's name and i see next to it "Online" or "Offline" please consider
good point, since on the forums you can see who is online/offline. if you have any other suggestions and also the pros/cons that would come along with new features, please post to the forum so everyone can read :)

a way to send messages to friends but without commenting on anything.
Yeah, I think instant messaging would be cool because if your friend and you are online, right now you have to refresh the page and it takes a few minutes for the message to go through.
You meen like Pm's (private messages) that would be good :)

one thing I think that you should be able to do is to post comments on your profile, about no project in particular, but just to chat about your newest projects.
that's a good point. that was a feature i had considered in the beginning and decided not to put on this particular prototype. if you have ideas on the pros/cons of features, or have ideas of your own on communication and reflection in scratch, please contribute to the forum and/or post a project :) thanks
