You're quite right. Scratch used to be about programming, now it's kinda like YouTube.
2009, I think.
ive heard 2007 was the best, unluckily i joined in 2008 so i never got to see for myself if it was that good. anyway i agree, people quit for mainly 1 reason...popularity. most people on scratch care too much about becoming popular on scratch. it was supposed to be about having fun creating projects and sharing ideas with everyone. im only gonna quit if i get bored of scratch which will probably never happen.

I support. I really like how you are focusing on the years rather than the people that came in them. I am a 2009 scratcher, so often when I look at projects like this I get insulted, but not this one! :)

Without TBG, indeed :) You know, we mods were voting and we all agreed it should be removed at the same time people were posting "STOP worrying they WONT delete TBG they never said they would" Its really better right now, but I still think there should be more focus on displaying all kinds of projects on the frontpage instead of that art. :/

*sigh*... if I have to go through distress, why did I join scratch in the first place? I came here to make projects and have fun, not to find some text games on the forums that weren't even programmed on scratch 1.2, 1.3, or 1.4!

you, ihaveamac, are one of the old croud i remember from when i first joined up.
another problem is that a lot of the most epic scratchers have moved on to different languages. skyred, m44, addzero, zelda123, seancanoodle, ffred, and bosox397. all epik scratchers. all gone, only once-in-a-while going online.

I totally agree. Some of my BFFs (from the beginning of the year) quit because of popuarity! I wish some people would just have fun making projects and not focus on how many views or comments they get. I don't get as much views as Maki-Tak or nikkiperson2 and you don't see my complaning
