Would you mind uploading the image that isn't working to a hosting website so I can see it? I'm trying to figure out why it only works for some people.
Um, no... If you want proof, download this project on two separate computers, make an image on one computer, and decode it on the other; it'll still work.
How can this be so totally epic and amazing without being top loved top viewed featured curated etc? It is one of the mysteries of the universe. :) GREAT JOB.`
is it O.K. if i use this for an annnouncement for my next collab, im gonna be making codes and then linking people back here so they can download this project and decode the message.
Thanks a lot! :) Hmm... did you save the screenshot as JPG? That format is known for blurring the image, which could be the problem. Also, that image seems extremely blurred... is that the fault of the image host? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions!
That's really cool. Now, I know it kind of defeats the purpose of the project but it would be more convenient if you could also export coded imqges as 0's and 1's (somehow?) and also paste the 0's and 1's in.
Awesome! Now... there's only one problem: this only supports text... Maybe like a QR code, there are different sections, and one of the sections would be to tell someone which kind of code it is, text, or a script or something... But maybe first make two types of codes: one that needs a password and one that doesn't? If only scratch was more advanced and we had link blocks and stuff...
Wow! A Scratch version of QR codes! And the coding/decoding is very fast! But yeah, adding lowercase would be cool too. If you could actually make it generate a *QR* code that would also be cool.
Thanks! Yeah, it might be possible to make real QR codes, but I'd have to figure out how they work first. Also, I just updated this with support for lowercase letters!
Note: if it's not working properly, try editing out the white background, if there is any. (Apparently it helps, though it isn't fully confirmed)
Important: When saving your images, always use PNG or GIF. Never JPG!
I do believe this is a first for Scratch - a project that not only lets you enter a message and turn it into an unreadable mess of pixels, but also lets you decode said mess! What could be better?
...OK. Well, this is probably one of the bigger undertakings I've done with Scratch. This takes anything you type in, and changes it to an image that you can save onto your computer, sort of like QR codes.
Before you try running this, you should probably download it and run it in turbo speed (just go to Edit > Set Single Stepping... > Turbo). Of course, you can run it online and in normal speed, but a) it's incredibly slow, and b) you can't decode an image online.

i dontwork that way
uhm i downloaded it and it wont work :/
Wait, you mean it crashes the program? Sounds like a problem with your computer. Have you tried asking the Troubleshooting section of the forums?
(view all replies)I'm trying to figure out why it doesn't work for some people. What were you trying to say?
(view all replies)It doesn't work no matter what I do. =(
You don't need an account to upload to ImageShack... but if MegaUpload works for you, that's fine too.
Something like http://www.imageshack.us/. I'm sorry if it's asking a lot!

(view all replies)AWESOME!
i thought u needed to edit it because thats how it worked for me
That is incredibly weird. I have no idea what the problem could be, because it's not programmed that way at all :(
(view all replies)Err... that's not how it was programmed... does it not work for you if you leave the white part in?
(view all replies)i got it now
u have special blocks
it wont work
This is amazing! It would be cool if it could read real QR codes w/o a red border!
That would be really cool, but unfortunately, real QR codes are very well encoded. I haven't the slightest idea how it would work :(
Interesting I don't think the image really matters I think whatever you enter into that box is just saved as a variable

(view all replies)Really cool!
Wow...fantastic! Secret agents are going to love this :)
Is it the compression in JPEG that messes things up?
(view all replies)keep getting corrupted. :/
Hmm, try making it again. Make sure it's in the offline player, and you're not in presentation mode when you take the screenshot.
(view all replies)in the costume editor, after you import it into the message sprite, edit your image and remove the white outside the red
(view all replies)Here is a hint, on windows 7 I can use windows+s to just crop what I want it to take a screenshot of.
NVM i found it I used - in it.
Hmmm, it keeps saying it contains an illegal character, does it have to be all lowercase?
it keeps saying my image is corrupted
Hmm. Try making the image again in the offline player, and see if it works. If not... I really don't know, because that phrase works for me...
That's really weird. Did you make it online or offline? What were you trying to say?
(view all replies)You didn't save it as JPG, did you? Because that ruins it. You should always use PNG.
(view all replies)Do you share it? ...?
How can this be so totally epic and amazing without being top loved top viewed featured curated etc? It is one of the mysteries of the universe. :) GREAT JOB.`
Thanks, lol :P
wow I absolutely love this and wonder at the fact if isn't featured.
cool
oh mah god epicnes
ikr
(view all replies)This is awesome. I saved the image (offline) with "grab screen region for new costume" and it worked very well.
That does work well... you don't even need to "save as PNG"
is it O.K. if i use this for an annnouncement for my next collab, im gonna be making codes and then linking people back here so they can download this project and decode the message.
That's totally fine!
how do you do turbo?
In the Flash player, simply shift+click the green flag. Offline, you have to go to Edit > Set Single Stepping... > Turbo speed.
didn't work...:/
(view all replies)OK, try making it again, and save it as a PNG. That may work.
(view all replies)Thanks a lot! :) Hmm... did you save the screenshot as JPG? That format is known for blurring the image, which could be the problem. Also, that image seems extremely blurred... is that the fault of the image host? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions!
(view all replies)That would be highly appreciated, if it's not asking too much... :/
(view all replies)Odd... Could you please post the image that's not working to an image hosting site? That would help me out a lot.
(view all replies)Wow! This is GREAT! May I use it?
Sure... for what? :P
(view all replies)Dude, we're quite alike, but I'm not 15 and my bedtime is 10 when I have to get up
Alberta.
(view all replies)Oh, from that survey topic? That's pretty cool.
(view all replies)also I don't have a cellphone
Wow, that's really cool! =D
This is really cool!

Hmm... that's also a good idea. Unfortunately, it's hard to work up an efficient system for letting the user export text :(
(view all replies)Nice! Someone should try to convert actual QR codes to Scratch. :) Wikipedia can help :)
Very good! :D
Truly brilliant
This is Amazing!!!!!
Wow, that's amazing! How does it work?
It's a bit complicated... I don't think I can explain it in one comment :P
epic fail that someone hasn't thought of this before...
epic
WOW this is incredible!
:O
LOVED AND FAVOURITED.

Hmm... I might try that. Thanks!
Cool!
These are the kind of projects that deserve to be featured. If this isn't soon, and I become curator, this will be one I will select. :)
:D ;D (I can't put this into words)
Love it. You should take on cryptography!
This. Is. AWESOME!
Thanks!
