freejam: Yes the universe is (possibly) infinite, but this is what we see when we look in all directions. It is drawn as a flat picture though (like a normal map of the earth).
Samueldora: The infrared and gamma rays concentrated in the middle come from the center and edges of our own galaxy (which is a spiral and rather flat like a frisbee). We are in one of the spiral arms and so when we look around we see lots of stuff in a line. The Microwave map has this removed but it would be there!
Fine project, greenflash! I wonder why infrared light and gamma rays concentrate in the middle (milky way) but visible light and microwaves spread over the whole sky?
Looks like the WMAP image by NASA its not actually the Microwave map of the universe its actually the mass scopic diagram of the universe it tells which regions were more dense(red) and which were empty (blue) and avg(Green) when universe was just 320000 years old :D .. it was the time when the First ray of light evolved :D .. so i guess u should accurate it :D
hey i cant see your project because it dosnt work online (for me) and i cant download because it has a "bad header" i have downloaded multiple times just to see if it was a glitch but it wasnt could you plese re upload
interesting fact, because when an object moves really quickly toward you, it would appear blue, because the actual wavelengths of light compress. when an object moves really quickly away from you, it would appear red, because the actual wavelengths of light expand
that's the redshift that you might hear scientists talk about if you watch any videos speaking about the distance between galaxies and stars, it's one of, if not the only way that you can estimate how far away a galaxy or star is from us
radio waves and micro waves are infa-red. and x-rays and gamma rays are ultra violet :P..and it's in order from longest to shortest, the higher the energy in a beam/ray/wave/whatever of light the shorter the waves are, for example radio waves are somewhere around a kilometer long, while you can fit approx 1 billion gamma rays in a centimeter....but yeah he is missing a few, i guess they don't have maps of the universe in x-ray or radio waves

isnt the universe infinite not round?

I like the Gamma Ray one.
I want to be your friend
what about uv and radio waves?
coooooooooooolllllllllllyyyyyyooooo
The big bang never happened!
If it didn't then how would earth exist?
(view all replies)are u intrested in astrophysics?
This is amazing! It's featured!
infared
IIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNFFFFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
never mind AWESOME!
to many words
I vote for Gamma Rays!
coooooooooooooollllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

oooo
seems like a great idea. had a little trouble with the slider but loved it al the same. a quality idea. a little more tweaks perhaps?
gr8!!!
Cool! but how do you make a slider non-numbers?
very good project with all the technical stuff left in, just how I like it.
Awesome! Looking at the world from different lights taught us many things!

It might have been made in BYOB... that's what it says when you try to open BYOB files in Scratch.
(view all replies)Do you have any explanation for why the infared and gamma ray maps are so focused in the equator and not anywhere else?

(view all replies)Infared!
Infrared
(view all replies)im stunned that this many people love it. i guess you're doing something right, then.
gamma rays sting rays lol
Gamma rays
radio waves, microwaves, infared radiation, visible light, ultra violet, x-ray, gamma ray. (in order from shortest wavelength to longest)

i was about to say the same thing
gamma!
Wow, cool! I like how you used two variables to change.
Awesome
I vote for microwaves because they are my favorite ray of radiation because they can heat up fat, water and sugar molocuels.
infared
infared is what i like best. and i love this project!!!
Wow! this desirved to be featured, and it was. this is a very educational project. i like the gamma rays best.
Congrats on the feature! I knew it was just a matter of time before you got featured!
Gamma Rays
Cool, I think infrared looks the best.
Nice project, thank you for adding it to my gallery.
wow..... this is amazing
Gamme Rays are cool
uh huh!
Very Awesome.You're Smart.
yuh huh!
so kool
γ rays!
infrared
Infrrared
gamma and 4 1nce learning wuz fun the pics were pretty cool :D
great!
The gamma ray view is gorgeous, red on blue with blurred stars. :)
The gamma ray looks so cool!
Very cool! I saw that on the science channel! :)
very educational
nice!
cool!
Great interface.
